Audi SUVs are among the most compelling luxury options in their class. They offer upscale accommodations, engaging performance, and sophisticated style. They're also renowned for safety, boasting thoughtful frame and chassis design, cutting-edge driver aids, and confident handling dynamics. And Audi has the accolades to prove it. Last month, the automaker reported that seven Audi SUVs had earned TOP SAFETY PICK recognition against more stringent requirements from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Earlier this year, the IIHS strengthened its TOP SAFETY PICK award standards to include a more energetic "side crash test" and a new nighttime vehicle-to-pedestrian requirement for front crash prevention systems. In addition to a "Good" rating in all previous crash evaluations, a vehicle must earn an acceptable or good score in the updated side test. It must also receive an advanced or superior rating in the daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluation. The TOP SAFETY PICK+ upgrade requires a "Good" score in the updated side test and "Advanced" or "Superior" ratings in both daytime and nighttime pedestrian tests.
So far, seven Audi SUVs have proven themselves against the updated standards to score the coveted TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) acknowledgment. Of those models, five received TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) ratings.
